Robert “Bob”
Shivers
At the age
of 15 started singing with the “Four Sharps” in Jersey City, NJ.
They performed at high school dances and other social functions.
Joined the
U.S Air Force. During that time performed at service clubs
stateside and abroad with “The Precisions”. Honorably discharged
from the military and returned to Jersey City.Met John Taylor
who wrote and produced for the Ad-Libs. Introduced to James
Wright and together they formed “The Spellbinders”
In 1963
the group auditioned for Van McCoy and were signed to Columbia
Records. They recorded (6) six singles and an album with
producers Van McCoyAnd Ken Williams. The group toured
extensively for several years afterwards.
Since then
Bob has worked with the “New Testament Band”, Black Haze
Express,The Manhattans and several other groups/bands.Has
appeared in the world famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem, Strand
Theatre in Boston, Regal Theatre In Chicago and the Royal
Theatre in Baltimore.
Colleges:
Hunter College, Morgan State, Jacksonville State and Alabama
State .
The Gulah
Fest in Beauford, S.C. and The Touch July 4th Fest in
Atlantic City.
In 2006
performed for 500 visiting Englishmen at SoulTrip USA at the
Hilton Inn
